Free School Meal Provisions during COVID-19
Please see the below communications that have been received from the Benefits Department from Torfaen Council, please follow their registration guidance.
The decision has now been made that the administering of FSM entitlement while the education sites are closed will now be carried out by the Benefits Team. The will replace the current interim scheme from April 6.
We set up an online application form for parents who are entitled to FSM to complete and supply us with bank details so we can issue weekly payments to them aimed at providing food for the children while they are at home. The form can also be found under the Benefits section of the customer portal – www.torfaen.mycouncilservices.com
We appreciate that this is a very difficult time for everybody at the moment and we are anticipating that we will be able to issue payments on a weekly basis from 6th April 2020.  I understand that this delay could cause some worry to parents but we are working as quickly as we can to get this up and running effectively and efficiently.
We would like ALL parents to apply on line rather than ringing the Benefits team. As you could imagine this could generate a lot of phone calls for us when we need to be able to focus on getting the system set up and the first run paid as quickly as possible.
Obviously we understand that some parents may not have internet access and we will of cause take forms over the telephone but would like to keep these to a minimum if possible.
