Athletic News

Eight of our pupils qualified from their District Athletics event last week to compete in the County Finals on Tuesday 2nd July. It was a very warm day down in Spytty Stadium but all of our athletes performed to the best of their abilities and represented our school superbly. We had athletes competing in the 800m, 100m and javelin as well as our Year 7 boys team who qualified for the 4 x 100m relay. We ended the day with some excellent results. Kye Jennings took 2nd place in the 100m sprint with a very fast time of 12.40 seconds. Euwen Ward in Year 7 also took 2nd in the 800m with a time of 2.23 minutes. Conal Burton and Nia Rees competed in the 800m and secured 5th place. Liam Holder competed in javelin and threw 23.62 metres which awarded him in 3rd place in his category. Gethin Roberts threw well in the Year 8 javelin event and came 5th in the county. The final event of the day was the boys 4 x 100m relay. The boys had a quick start which secured them good positioning in the race, with effective baton exchanges they managed to sprint into 2nd place. A very well done to all the pupils who competed.
