English

Our vision for English Language and Literature at Abersychan School is to inspire students who are articulate, reflective and empathetic, empowered by the richness of language in all its forms. Our curriculum secures a deep appreciation for how language connects people, conveys ideas and shapes the world.

Through English, students refine their ability to listen actively, speak purposefully, read analytically and write with creativity, and precision. They explore how language reflects identity, culture and context, and how it evolves over time.

Students engage with a wide range of texts, developing critical thinking and empathy as they examine diverse perspectives and challenge assumptions. By analysing and creating texts, they learn to express themselves with originality and confidence.

English extends beyond the classroom, supporting learning across all subjects and equipping students with the communication skills needed to thrive in life. Strong literacy is the foundation for academic success and personal growth.

Ultimately, we aim to nurture a lifelong love of language and literature, preparing students to be thoughtful, expressive and compassionate contributors to a global society.
