Wings to Fly 2018

Last week (WC 14th May 2018) , the Performing Arts department took 13 Year 9 pupils to the Congress Theatre in Cwmbran for a week of Wings 2 Fly performances. Wings 2 Fly is a drugs education performance commissioned by Gwent police that is performed to local primary schools. Abersychan was lucky enough to be the secondary school selected to perform our own interpretation of the play.

It was a week of successful performances as Year 9 took to the stage with an exciting mixture of comedy, dance and even some ‘Greatest Showman!’ However, it was the powerful ending of the performance that ensured the ‘Say No To Drugs’ message was received by the primary schools pupils loud and clear.

The Performing Arts department would like to say a big thank-you to staff and parents for their support during the rehearsal period/performance week of Wings 2 Fly. Also a huge thank-you to our Year 9 performers for their hard work and dedication and PC Juliet Murphy for giving Abersychan the exciting opportunity.

Cast: Eleri Miles, Madison Bones, Sarah Davies, Leah McCann, Jordan Jones, Rosie Martin, Lillie Cutler, Sior Gibbs, Harvey Richards, Sam Allford, Kieran Knight and Tomos Carter.
