Abersychan Remembers

On Tuesday 14 November, Abersychan School held its own remembrance service. A number of visitors from the local British Legion were invited guests. Mr Collins led the assembly and Captain James from the British legion reminded us all of the reason why we remember and the reasons why the poppy is sold. During the assembly a 2 minute silence was held for those who lost their lives in the great world wars and the many servicemen and women since who have died serving their country.

The behaviour of all pupils was outstanding during the assembly and commented on very positively by the members of the British Legion. The generosity and community spirit of the school was shown again with £218 donated towards the Poppy Appeal.

On Remembrance Sunday, Kai Burton (Head Boy) and Lauren Williams (Head Girl) accompanied Mr Collins to Blaenavon Remembrance Service and  Joel Williams (Deputy Head Boy) and Megan Mutlow (Deputy Head Girl ) accompanied Mr Mutlow to Pontypool Remembrance Service. In both services a reef was laid on behalf of the school in memory of all those who have lost their lives serving our country.
